Items

Throughout game play many items will degrade with use. The health of an item refers to the items remaining usage. To view the health left in an item, hold down the Ctrl-key and the left mouse button and position the mouse over the item. The health will be displayed at the bottom of the pop-up window. Items can degrade in many ways. Skill items will degrade during every use.

Combat Items

Armor will degrade by absorbing damage dealt to the player. Weapons will degrade based on the armor the players' opponent is wearing while the player is in combat. There are also other ways that will have to be discovered in game.

Many items that degrade can be repaired up to a certain level. The following details which skill players can use to repair their degrading items and which items that skill will repair: forging for metal weapons, carpentry for wooden weapons, sewing for cloth and fabrics and leatherworking for leather items.

Shops will also repair items but at a cost. Magic items require higher skills, certain items and even certain shops to be able to repair them so be careful when using these items. Each time an item is repaired its maximum health will decrease depending on the method of repair. Once an items health has dropped to 0, the item will be beyond repair and will be destroyed.

As items lose health it makes them less effective. For example, a weapon that is currently at a 50% maximum health level will do 50% of its normal damage. Armor that is currently at 50% health will only provide 50% of its normal AC. If an item reaches 0 health (this is not the maximum health level) the item is not destroyed. It simply provides no defensive of offensive capabilities.

Skill Tools

As skill tools health decrease, the item doesn't become less effective. So a pick axe that is at 50% health will have the same effectiveness as a pick axe that is at 100% health.

If a trade tool reaches 0 health or 0 maximum health, that item will be destroyed.

Selling Degraded Items To Shops

Items sold to shops or purchased from shops will have their prices altered from the normal value depending on the percent of degradation the item has suffered to its maximum and current health.

For example:

A brand new magic helm is sold from the shop at 10,000 and sold back to the shop for 8,000 (giving the seller an 80% return). A magic helm that is currently at 50% of 100% health will sell to the shop for only 4,000 and if purchased from the shop would cost only 5,000. A magic helm that is currently at 50% of 50% maximum level (125/250 when a new weapons maximum level is 500) would sell to the shop for 2,000 and if purchased from shop would cost only 2,500.
